Our Origin Story
Early Beginnings
Once upon a mundane afternoon, in a galaxy that lacked flashy space battles (yes, this galaxy right here), our founder was on the perilous mission of child pickup duty. Like any self-respecting introvert, he scoured the landscape for a solitary refuge amidst the chaos of bench-bound socializing. En route to his chosen Siberian Outpost, a stroke of serendipity intervened. His keen eye caught sight of someone sporting a funny tee shirt, a beacon of levity in the humdrum sea of parental routine.
Despite his usual apprehension toward engaging with total strangers, our intrepid founder was drawn to the enigmatic wearer of the humor-infused garment. With a leap of faith, he abandoned his fortress of solitude, settled in beside this purveyor of mirth, and initiated conversation. Little did he know that this chance encounter would blossom into a steadfast friendship spanning decades.
And so, from this humble genesis sprang forth our brand, born from the unlikely alliance of an introvert seeking solace and a stranger wearing a simple tee shirt that spoke volumes. Our founder decided to embark on a journey to instill the Universe with whimsy, one witty conversation, and quirky design at a time.
What's with the name?
The name “Comet Tees” is actually a play on the word “comedies.” (Oh no, we had to explain our joke, that is never good!) Of course, we have taken this pun way too far and gone all in on the space theme! Enjoy!
Negative Energy Detected
A couple of heliocentric orbits ago our sensors detected that the inhabitants of Earth were very tense and divided. We wanted to offer an alternative to combat this negative energy. Every time somebody wears a Comet Tee, they have a chance to make someone smile, smirk, chuckle, or outright laugh out loud. (Double-takes are our favorites, especially with some of our more subtle designs.) Sometimes the Tees will even invoke a conversation. This is all positive energy and that’s what the Universe needs.
Universal Humor?
Humor is subjective and there are lots of forms. We have many different products representing the unique designs that float around in our brains. Our hope is that there is something for everybody here. We have nothing that is intentionally offensive and meant to upset anyone. It’s lighthearted and we are sure that if you take a step back and think about it you’ll agree. We avoid hot-button issues and if we delve into anything close, we poke fun at both sides. At the very least, you may just think the design is not funny and that is perfectly ok! Some of the best designs are ones enjoyed by a smaller subset of Earthlings!
